Do’s & Don’t of Spray Tanning

Do’s & Don’t of Spray Tanning: Planning Ahead

In the heat of summer, my social calendar is filling up with tons of outdoor events! Weddings, BBQ’s, bridal showers, and bachelorette parties have quickly became a part of my summer weekends. One thing I’ve been sure to do in the midst of the craziness, is schedule ahead and plan my spray tans around these events to ensure I look my absolute best. Many things go into dressing up – hair, makeup, outfit, shoes. An amazing tan is all a girl needs to add the finishing touch! Here are a few of my do’s and don’ts for spray tanning:

DO: Shave, exfoliate, and keep your skin moisturized beforehand. Always remember to shave and exfoliate at least 24 hours in advance to ensure smooth and even application. Moisturize for a couple days beforehand to keep your skin properly hydrated. However, do not have a moisturizer on when your receive your spray, you’ll want your skin to be completely bare and product-free.

DON’T: get a manicure or pedicure after your spray tan. The warm water and chemicals will strip your tan. Make sure to do your nails at least 24-48 hours in advance.

DO: Make sure your tan is the right shade for you by doing a trial run or sticking to your normal color. The goal is to not have your spray tan stick out. Thanks to technology, spray tan consultants are able to analyze your skin color and help you choose and customize the right color for you.

DON’T: wait until the day of for your spray tan. Spray tanning is something you’ll want to do at least 24-48 hours ahead of time. This gives the spray tan time to settle and adds a little extra time to your routine just in case.

Setting a beauty routine and planning ahead will save you the stress of waiting until the last minute. With proper care and ample preparation, you’ll have the most beautiful tan for your events!
